Kaiser Spotlight at The Flying Unicorn

This week we are spotlighting a fabulous company - Kaisercraft!

For this project I worked with the delightful Chanteuse collection from the Unicorn store. I used their papers as well as the chipboard and die cuts, Pink Paislee mistable letters which I sprayed with cherub pink then sand glimmer mist, I sued to the glimmer ist to distress my flowers too, and liquid pearls. To get a more rounded pearl rather than a peak with my liquid pearls I would drop about 10 pearls then tap the underside of my page. From my stash I used a pearl flourish, and pearl accents.

Flying Unicorn Make it work! Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Flying Unicorn Make it Work! Blog Hop. We’re so happy that you’ve joined us! The Hop starts at the Flying Unicorn blog, so if you didn’t start there, hop on over to this link and get started so that you don’t miss anything! I’ll see you back here in a bit!
First I want to share with you this layout that I did just for this blog hop.

For my designer I chose Rodeo Ben, an innovator for wrangler jeans ~ because without him, these jeans would not look as good on my hubby as they do!

Wrangler Jeans were first made by Blue Bell, who acquired the brand when they took over Casey Jones in the mid-1940s. Blue Bell employed Bernard Lichtenstein ('Rodeo Ben'), a Polish tailor from Łódź who worked closely with cowboys, to help design jeans suitable for rodeo use. This was the origin of Wrangler Jeans. The 13MWZ style, (MWZ stands for “men’s Western zipper”) introduced in 1947 as lot number 11MWZ, is still available worldwide The pockets are positioned high in the back so that riders don’t sit on their wallets, and the belt loops are set a little wider in front to accommodate a championship buckle. They are made with flat rivets that do not scratch saddles and large zippers that riders can handle with gloves. The tapered legs fit tightly over boots so that they don’t drag like the flared “boot cut” jeans, which have little to do with practicing cowboys; and the inseam is four to six inches longer than the norm so that when a rider is in the saddle, the bottom of the jeans sits just so on the top of the foot.

There is a reason that the Creative Team members are all featuring fashion on their blogs during this hop. This is just a preview of the fun we are going to have in March during our Haute Couture at the Unicorn Ritz challenges! Wait until you see the OTP project, it is so fabulous. Hmmmm, what is haute couture, anyway? “The term "haute couture" is French. Haute means "high" or "elegant." Couture literally means "sewing," but has come to indicate the business of designing, creating, and selling custom-made, high fashion women's clothes.
To be called a haute couture house, a business must belong to the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture in Paris, which is regulated by the French Department of Industry. Members must employ 15 or more people and present their collections twice a year. Each presentation must include at least 35 separate outfits for day and eveningwear." (For more information see What is Haute Couture by David Johnson. http://www.infoplease.com/spot/fashionside1.html)

Misting fun

Hi everyone! This week at the Flyinh Unicorn we are spotlighting Tattered Angels! I love misting! Its a great way to add some color and fun to your projects. I have a couple of layouts to share!

From the unicorn store I used some the fabulous 'cherub pink' glimmer mist , the too fun *Mistables* alphas from pink paislee and some wonderful 7 gypsies papers

IMG_2099

I started off with a piece of cream colored cardstock and gently misted it with Cherub Pink then dabbed with a paper towel to give it a more subtle look.

Since we are spotlighting glimmer mist I wanted to use it on more than the background paper so I misted the bird that I had cut out of one of the papers, the pink pailsee letters, and I also sprayed the ribbon using the technique in the Enchanting Creations Magazine this month. To save mist, pour a little bit of mist in a small baggie, put in your ribbon or mist and squish it around until you have the coverage you want, you may need to add a bit more mist.

For my second project, I wanted to highlight a couple of different things you can do with mist.

IMG_2115

I started off with another piece of creme cardstock, and I added my October Afternoon Day Dream rub ons in cream from the Unicorn store then I misted over them in the cherub pink mist then I added the Sand Glimmer Mist along the edge and on the chipboard title from my stash. This technique will work with any color rub ons and cardstock. If you use white cardstock, then you use white rub ons...the effect is cool and you can use any glimmer mist color you want. alda has a great secetion of colors so give it a try.

I also used the cherub glimmer mist to distress my handmade flowers by squishing them and rolling them into a ball before layering them.

I also added some vintage lace, the cherub and buttons and 7 gypsies papers from the Unicorn store!

Pucker Up for Kissing Booth

Hi everyone! This week we are spotlighting the delectable kissing booth line from Basic Grey...just in time for Valentines day! The papers have a vintage feel to them without being understand. The colors are vibrant and the patterns are fun, and while they are perfect for those valentines and lovey dovey projects, they are general enough to be used for any project. Here is what I created using this sweet line....

My first layout I chose to highlight the romatic feel to the papers and create alayout about my hubby and I.
From Kissing Booth I used better half, pucker up, lip gloss, and the cardstock stickers
From the Unicorn store I also used Petaloo's Tiffanys Treasure Flower Charms - Fushia
from my stash I used some prima flowers

here are some close ups

For my second layout I chose to showcase the versatility of line and create a family layout. This is my brother and his family. I was inspired by Bo Bunny's Design Team members Tara Orr's punch work that was on the Bo Bunny blog.

From Basic grey's Kissing booth I used heart breaker, kissing 101, lip lock, oh darling, better half and kiss I made the flowers from the leftovers from the projects using basic grey's kissing booth.

from my stash I used some gems.

Lots of fun at the Unicorn!

Join us for a very special Make it Work! blog hop February 25th and 26th! The blog hop starts at the Flying Unicorn blog and ends in the Flying Unicorn forums. Each of our designers will be revealing a very fashionable project on their blog that they’ve designed just for the blog hop. You know how we like to give fun “stuff” away, so of course, there will be RAKs awarded randomly to one lucky visitor of each blog.

If you visit each CT member’s blog, leave a comment, and become a follower, you will be entered in the grand prize drawing for a fabulous prize package assembled by The Grand Unicorn herself!

Our favorite part of the blog hop is that we’re going to preview the March kit with some sneak peeks on our creative teams’ blogs instead of in the forum. We’re also going to tell you something about the wonderful projects we have planned for March. Trust me; you are not going to want to miss this. We are all over the moon excited about our March plans that we’ve been working on for a couple months now. Don’t miss this blog hop because we’re going to be working it!
